This unique and much-heralded non-profit theatre company was founded
by artistic director, JOE CASCONE, in 1979. It quickly expanded into a
legitimate and competitive community theatre, offering the highest quality
entertainment at the most affordable prices.
Now in its 29th season, and still under the dedicated direction of Mr.
Cascone, the company has thrived over the years and presented
musicals and plays at various venues around Ontario, making its home at
the Fairview Library Theatre in Toronto.
Each season we are pleased to present four productions as a
subscription series. These shows range from the tried-and-true-
favourites to many more-obscure. Unlike most companies, we are
dedicated to acknowledging more than the typical, standard Broadway
fare as we also uncover and present lost and forgotten musicals
deserving of recognition.
Over the years, we have been responsible for presenting the Canadian
premieres of now-popular musicals such as Titanic - The Musical,
Annie, Snoopy!, High Society and State Fair. Everyone has enjoyed our
productions of Broadway standards like My Fair Lady, Damn Yankees,
Gigi, Oliver!, The King and I and Mame, but some of our best response
from audiences and critics alike has come from wonderful “lost” musicals
like Yours Anne, Two By Two, Something’s Afoot, Stop the World - I
Want to Get Off, The Happiest Millionaire and Rodgers &
Hammerstein's Allegro
We have also presented musical revues, concert stagings and
appropriate non-musical plays as well.
Our World-premiere original musical stage adaptation of The Wonderful
Wizard of Oz, first staged by us in 2000, and then again in 2002, with
music and lyrics by James P. Doyle, and book by Joe Cascone, was
based faithfully upon the original novel by L. Frank Baum and fascinated
sell-out audiences during its two brief engagements. We were also
fortunate enough to record a much-praised original cast CD of the songs
from this production. Acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz continues to be the most asked-for show in our
